The Apple app store consists of over 2 million apps, most un-audited and some left without any updates since years. It appears like Apple is finally going to do something about it.
Apple recently announced that it will be conducting reviews and removal of apps from the App Store from September 7 onward. This runs parallel with the company’s effort to make it easier for customers to find great apps that fit their needs.
Apps in all categories on the App Store will be evaluated to make sure that they are functioning according to the current review guidelines. Those which are outdated will be immediately eliminated.
The App Store team will contact the owner of the app if any changes are required. However, apps that crash on launch will be removed immediately from the Store.
Read the latest App Store Review Guidelines as they are published and make sure your apps follow them.
