Bengaluru: The high security and shoddy handling of traffic around Raj Bhavan during the oath taking ceremony of the newly inducted Ministers of the JDS-Congress coalition government on Wednesday, left many VVIPs, including Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s mother, Chennamma Deve Gowda, in distress.
While Mr Ramesh Kumar returned without attending the function owing to the traffic and chaos, Mrs Chennamma Deve Gowda had to walk some distance from Infantry Road to get to Raj Bhavan as her car was not allowed to stop in front of its gate.
When Mr Ramesh Kumar arrived at Raj Bhavan, his car was behind 30 others that were waiting to get in. After waiting in his car for over half- an hour, he decided to return without attending the function and later shot off a strong letter to the government about the poor arrangements made for the oath taking ceremony.
Besides Mrs Chennamma and Mr Kumar, MLC Saravana too was caught in chaos around Raj Bhavan. Although he walked to it, he was asked to stand in the queue outside it. Seeing how long it was, Mr Saravana jumped on the podium for television channel logos to get to the Raj Bhavan gate and gain entry.
