Shenzhen: Chinese border control authorities have arrested several people for smuggling around 400 new iPhone 7 handsets on the day the product was launched in the country.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the smugglers were trying to sneak into the Chinese city of Shenzhen from Hong Kong with the stolen phones hidden in their clothes, trousers and even strapped around their body.
Authorities said that they have confiscated at least 400 iPhones estimated to be around three million yuan (£344,787).
The incident took place on September 16, 2016. Reports stated that one person is allowed to carry only one handset. Those possessing multiple handsets are considered as smugglers.
The smuggled devices are now with the custom officials, who are planning to hold a public auction.
