Mumbai: After becoming a household name with her television series ‘Naagin 2’, Mouni Roy, who wrapped up the show recently, is happily holidaying in Michigan. When she comes back, it will be time to shoot for her big Bollywood debut alongside Akshay Kumar in ‘Gold’.
Directed by Reema Kagti (of ‘Talaash’ fame), the film is based on India’s first Olympic win post independence in 1948.
About Mouni’s character, as per a report by a leading news organisation, a source said, “Mouni will be seen in a completely different avatar to suit the era. She will shoot for the film for 20-25 days in August and is one of the few female characters in the otherwise male dominated narrative. She will be shooting extensively with Akshay,” and also added, “It is scripted by Rajesh Devraj and is a fictional take on the momentous game. Hockey will feature prominently in the plot but it is a strong human drama. Gold follows 12 crucial years in India’s history as well.”
‘Gold’ is expected to release some time next year and is produced by Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
In other news, Akshay Kumar is currently busy with two projects – ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Padman’.
While ‘Toilet- Ek Prem Katha’ promotional activities are on as the film is set to release on August 11, is still shooting for ‘Padman’ alongside Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor.
