Mumbai: Another Bollywood actor to get vocal on the raging controversy over the ban on Pakistani artists, is Nana Patekar, who expressed his stringent on the issue by showing full support to the Indian Army.
In the wake of Uri attack, Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirmann Sena (MNS) had threatened to kick out Pakistani actors if they didn’t leave the country. Soon, there have been many demands to ban Pakistani artists in Indian cinema. Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anupam Kher and others voiced their opinions on the issues. While Salman showed support to Pakistani actors, veteran actor Anupam condemned them.
However, on Sunday, Nana Patekar expressed his views on the issue, the actor said, “Pakistani actors and others don’t come first. First comes my country, I don’t know anyone other than my country and neither would I like to know. An artist is like a bed bug, very small in front of the country. We do not have any worth.”
Moving ahead, the actor also said that the soldiers are the real heroes and actors are fake people, so one should not take what they say seriously. “I was in army and I have spent two and half years there. So I know who our biggest heroes are. No one can be a bigger hero than our army men. Our original heroes are our jawans fighting at the border.”
The actor also slammed Bollywood celebrities for their comments on the issue by saying, “We actors are very common and fake people. So don’t give importance to what we say. You know who I am talking about, right? They keep blabbering, so don’t give them any attention as they aren’t worthy of it,” he said.
When probed further, Nana Patekar indirectly hit out at Salman Khan’s stand on the issue and said, “Salman has said that government gives visa and that they are not terrorists. His points are accurate but what I want to say is when there’s war between two countries, we should stay away from each other. When there won’t be war, then we will adhere by the political decisions.”
