Dubai: A 20-year-old Egyptian man has been given a suspended jail term of six months for sexually assaulting a Mexican woman on the pretext of taking a selfie with her.
According to a report in Khaleej Times, the incident happened on May 29. The 26-year-old woman entered the elevator of the building where she resides and the convict followed her in the lift.
“It was around 11:40 pm. At first he tried to initiate a conversation. He then pretended to take a selfie with me but I did not let him do so,” the woman was quoted as saying.
As she tried to walk out of the lift, the convict ‘lowered her trousers, touched her inappropriately and kissed her against her will’.
The convict pleaded not guilty, however, the court ordered his deportation after the jail term ends.
