Mumbai: The Indian Under-17 football side continued their preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup next year, with a convincing 3-0 win over German side MSV Duisburg in Duisburg on Sunday.
India dominated the show against the German team, as they raced to a three-goal lead by half time. Komal Thatal, Aniket Jadhav, and Aman Chetri were the heroes of the day, as they scored the three first half goals.
It was the Indians who shot into the early lead, as midfielder Komal tapped in a cross from defender Boris Singh Thangjam in the very first minute of the game.
Captain Amarjit Singh Kiyam got into the act as the first half wore on, as he played a delicate through ball to Aniket Jadhav. The Kolhapur-born striker did brilliantly to dribble past the opposition keeper and blast the ball into the Duisburg goal on the 35th minute.
The Indian Colts sailed into a comfortable 3-0 lead just four minutes later, as Aman scored the third goal of the game. While India dominated the rest of the game, the second half remained goalless.
This win comes on the back of a 4-1 victory over Rot Weiss Oberhausen. The 3-0 win over Duisburg completes yet another convincing performance for the young side, as they prepare for next year’s 2017 FIFA u-17 World Cup, which the Indians are all set to host.
