A photo taken on Air Force One of President Donald Trump next to Darth Vader, with Rogue One being shown on one of the plane’s screens as Mr Trump travelled to Mar-a-Lago, where he announced a missile strike on Syria, is being called a “dark omen.”
President Donald Trump cast the United States assault on a Syrian air base as vital to deter future use of poison gas and called on other nations to join in seeking “to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria.”
The US blasted the air base on Thursday night with a barrage of cruise missiles in fiery retaliation for this week’s gruesome chemical weapons attack against civilians. It was the first direct American assault on the Syrian government and Mr Trump’s most dramatic military order since becoming President just over two months ago.
Announcing the assault from his Florida resort, Mr Trump said there was no doubt Syrian President Bashar Assad was responsible for the chemical attack, which he said employed banned gases and killed dozens. “It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered … No child of God should ever suffer such horror.”
