The Queensland Police Force was left red-faced after their online appeal for a ‘missing’ teenager was answered by the girl herself. The department had posted a picture of a 17-year-old girl on their Facebook page along with the caption: “Can you help us find a 17-year-old girl missing from Carindale?” and a link to the same appeal on their website.
While the post received a lot ‘sad’ and ‘shocked’ reactions on social media, one particular comment ended up grabbing most of the attention. It was by the very same girl who was deemed missing by the police department. However by then her picture had already been shared online 800 times
Even though the girl wrote that she was fine, the officials commented that they couldn’t pull down the post until she was seen by a police officer and asked her to come to the station. Later a spokesperson for Queensland Police told the Daily Mail that the girl was found safe before 5pm and the missing persons post had been removed.
