virtualGimbal, a uniquely designed storage medium, is a simple-looking SD card-like device, but with a twist. The device features a built-in gyro sensor, which apart from helping to capture your footage, also captures the movement of the camera for a better electronic stabilisation. virtualGimbal is actually a micro SD to SD card adapter with a built-in 3-axis gyro sensor. It measures the angular velocities of the camera while recording video, which can be used by users to stabilise their videos after using the angular velocity data by the PC.

Videographers have used external stabilising devices for their shots since ages, but this one is a uniquely-designed device that fits right into your camera. The virtualGimbal is recognised by your camera as a regular SD card and the video footage shot by the camera is sent directly to the micro SD card that you insert into the adapter. The device is used in conjunction with post-processing software and is claimed to be very fast. It works in real-time with footages rated at 1920 x 1080 (full HD) at 30fps. Users can also adjust the zoom ratio and intensity of the video stabilisation while playing the video. The virtualGimbal is a combination of a software and hardware that could put existing external heavy, bulky and expensive image stabilisers aside. However, for now, the SD card stabiliser is still in prototype phase and there is no information about the product’s launch date and price.
