How to install nginx on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install nginx

Installing nginx package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nginx

nginx package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name nginx
version 1.9.10-1
description small, powerful, scalable web/proxy server
subsection httpd
website nginx.net
maintainer Kartik Mistry

Uninstall nginx

To remove just nginx package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove nginx

Uninstall nginx and it’s dependent packages

To remove the nginx package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove nginx

Purging nginx

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of nginx from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge nginx

To delete configuration and/or data files of nginx and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove nginx
