How to install nvi on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install nvi

Installing nvi package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvi

nvi package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name nvi
version 1.81.6-12
description 4.4BSD re-implementation of vi
subsection editors

Uninstall nvi

To remove just nvi package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove nvi

Uninstall nvi and it’s dependent packages

To remove the nvi package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove nvi

Purging nvi

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of nvi from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge nvi

To delete configuration and/or data files of nvi and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove nvi
