How to install putty on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install putty

Installing putty package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install putty

putty package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name putty
version 0.67-2
description Telnet/SSH client for X
subsection net
website chiark.greenend.org.uk / ~sgtatham / putty / 
maintainer Colin Watson

Uninstall putty

To remove just putty package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove putty

Uninstall putty and it’s dependent packages

To remove the putty package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove putty

Purging putty

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of putty from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge putty

To delete configuration and/or data files of putty and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove putty
