How to install rename on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install rename

Installing rename package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rename

rename package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name rename
version 0.20-4
description Perl extension for renaming multiple files
subsection perl
website metacpan.org / release / File-Rename
maintainer Debian Perl Group

Uninstall rename

To remove just rename package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove rename

Uninstall rename and it’s dependent packages

To remove the rename package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rename

Purging rename

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of rename from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge rename

To delete configuration and/or data files of rename and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rename
