How to install rmail on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install rmail

Installing rmail package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rmail

rmail package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name rmail
version 8.15.2-4
description MTA->UUCP remote mail handler
subsection mail
website sendmail.org
maintainer Debian QA Group

Uninstall rmail

To remove just rmail package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove rmail

Uninstall rmail and it’s dependent packages

To remove the rmail package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rmail

Purging rmail

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of rmail from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge rmail

To delete configuration and/or data files of rmail and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rmail
