How to install rpm on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install rpm

Installing rpm package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rpm

rpm package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name rpm
version 4.12.0.1+dfsg1-3+b2
description package manager for RPM
subsection admin

maintainer Michal Čihař

Uninstall rpm

To remove just rpm package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove rpm

Uninstall rpm and it’s dependent packages

To remove the rpm package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rpm

Purging rpm

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of rpm from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge rpm

To delete configuration and/or data files of rpm and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rpm
