How to install rustc on Debian Unstable (Sid)

Install rustc

Installing rustc package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rustc

rustc package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)

name rustc
version 1.8.0+dfsg1-1

subsection devel
maintainer Rust Maintainers

Uninstall rustc

To remove just rustc package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove rustc

Uninstall rustc and it’s dependent packages

To remove the rustc package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove rustc

Purging rustc

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of rustc from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge rustc

To delete configuration and/or data files of rustc and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove rustc
