How to install synaptic on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install synaptic

Installing synaptic package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install synaptic

synaptic package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name synaptic
version 0.83+b1
description Graphical package manager
subsection admin
website nongnu.org / synaptic / 
maintainer Michael Vogt

Uninstall synaptic

To remove just synaptic package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove synaptic

Uninstall synaptic and it’s dependent packages

To remove the synaptic package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove synaptic

Purging synaptic

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of synaptic from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge synaptic

To delete configuration and/or data files of synaptic and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove synaptic
