How to install sysnews on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install sysnews

Installing sysnews package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install sysnews

sysnews package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name sysnews
version 0.9-17
description program to display system news
subsection admin
maintainer Ryan Niebur

Uninstall sysnews

To remove just sysnews package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove sysnews

Uninstall sysnews and it’s dependent packages

To remove the sysnews package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove sysnews

Purging sysnews

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of sysnews from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge sysnews

To delete configuration and/or data files of sysnews and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove sysnews
