How to install tcl on Debian Unstable (Sid)

Install tcl

Installing tcl package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tcl

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name tcl
version 8.6.0+9
description Tool Command Language (default version) – shell
subsection interpreters
maintainer Debian Tcl/Tk Packagers

Uninstall tcl

To remove just tcl package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove tcl

Uninstall tcl and it’s dependent packages

To remove the tcl package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tcl

Purging tcl

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of tcl from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge tcl

To delete configuration and/or data files of tcl and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tcl
