How to install tracker on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install tracker

Installing tracker package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tracker

tracker package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name tracker
version 1.8.0-2+b1
description metadata database, indexer and search tool
subsection utils
website wiki.gnome.org / Projects / Tracker

Uninstall tracker

To remove just tracker package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove tracker

Uninstall tracker and it’s dependent packages

To remove the tracker package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove tracker

Purging tracker

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of tracker from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge tracker

To delete configuration and/or data files of tracker and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove tracker
