How to install udev on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install udev

Installing udev package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install udev

udev package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name udev
version 229-4
description /dev/ and hotplug management daemon
subsection admin
website freedesktop.org / wiki / Software / systemd
maintainer Debian systemd Maintainers

Uninstall udev

To remove just udev package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove udev

Uninstall udev and it’s dependent packages

To remove the udev package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove udev

Purging udev

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of udev from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge udev

To delete configuration and/or data files of udev and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove udev
