How to install unar on Debian Unstable (Sid)

Install unar

Installing unar package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unar

unar package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name unar
version 1.9.1-1
description Unarchiver for a variety of file formats
subsection utils
maintainer Matt Kraai

Uninstall unar

To remove just unar package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove unar

Uninstall unar and it’s dependent packages

To remove the unar package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove unar

Purging unar

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of unar from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge unar

To delete configuration and/or data files of unar and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove unar
