How to install varscan on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install varscan

Installing varscan package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install varscan

varscan package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Non-Free
name varscan
version 2.3.9+dfsg-1
description variant detection in next-generation sequencing data
subsection science
website varscan.sourceforge.net
maintainer Debian Med Packaging Team

Uninstall varscan

To remove just varscan package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove varscan

Uninstall varscan and it’s dependent packages

To remove the varscan package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove varscan

Purging varscan

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of varscan from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge varscan

To delete configuration and/or data files of varscan and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove varscan
