How to install xindy on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install xindy

Installing xindy package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xindy

xindy package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name xindy
version 2.5.1.20160104-1
description index generator for structured documents like LaTeX or SGML

maintainer Debian TeX maintainers

Uninstall xindy

To remove just xindy package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove xindy

Uninstall xindy and it’s dependent packages

To remove the xindy package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xindy

Purging xindy

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of xindy from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge xindy

To delete configuration and/or data files of xindy and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xindy
