How to install xorg on Debian Unstable (Sid)


Install xorg

Installing xorg package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xorg

xorg package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)
section Main
name xorg
version 1:7.7+14
description X.Org X Window System
subsection x11
website x.org
maintainer Debian X Strike Force

Uninstall xorg

To remove just xorg package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove xorg

Uninstall xorg and it’s dependent packages

To remove the xorg package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove xorg

Purging xorg

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of xorg from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge xorg

To delete configuration and/or data files of xorg and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove xorg
