How to install yum on Debian Unstable (Sid)

Install yum

Installing yum package on Debian Unstable (Sid) is as easy as running the following command on terminal:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install yum

yum package information

distro Debian Unstable (Sid)

name yum
version 3.4.3-3
description Advanced front-end for rpm
subsection admin
maintainer Thomas Goirand

Uninstall yum

To remove just yum package itself from Debian Unstable (Sid) execute on terminal:

sudo apt-get remove yum

Uninstall yum and it’s dependent packages

To remove the yum package and any other dependant package which are no longer needed from Debian Sid.

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove yum

Purging yum

If you also want to delete configuration and/or data files of yum from Debian Sid then this will work:

sudo apt-get purge yum

To delete configuration and/or data files of yum and it’s dependencies from Debian Sid then execute:

sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove yum
