New Link Tool Crowdsources Your Disavowed Links In DisavowFiles

The folks over at Bruce Clay announced a neat new link tool named DisavowFiles.

DisavowFiles basically lets you upload your disavow file to them and tells you how many other sites are disavowing the same links. But it doesn’t tell you who is disavowing those links, just if other people are disavowing those links.

When you disavow links, you are never sure if the link is actually helping you are hurting you. There are always gray areas and typically, SEOs only want to disavow links that are or will hurt them. This tool brings some additional data to the forefront, helping SEOs gain more confidence in their disavow list.

The tool is crowdsourced from those who sign up with it and it tell you primarily two things:

(1) Whether any backlinks to your site have been disavowed by other participants.

(2) Whether your site has been disavowed by others in the database.

Bruce Clay, the owners of this tool, promise to anonymize the data, so no one can tell the source of those disavowing the URLs within the tool.

In addition, it provides email reports for:

  • How many times the domain has been disavowed in the database
  • Number of external backlinks
  • Number of referring domains
  • Alexa rank (a measure of site prominence)
  • Trust Flow and Citation Flow measurements from Majestic, to help you determine the site’s trustworthiness.

Plus it is free.
